Well then wear sunglasses. Right?...Not necessarily. If you need to wear sunglasses, even on overcast days or the glare will bother you, then something is off. What is usually occurring is that the pupils are dilating more than they should rather than constrict to the “bright” light. This is an imbalance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, from too much stress that your body isn’t handling properly. Look into a mirror with the lights dim or turned off and then shine a flashlight into your eye (or your eye in the mirror). Your pupil should constrict (get smaller) and stay that way. With stress, it will rebound and start to get bigger. With a lot of stress it may constrict only for a very short second before it dilates (gets larger). This is a major indicator of adrenal stress and people usually note lowered energy levels, dizziness when getting up quickly, blood sugar problems, and sleep disturbances, to name a few. A complete chiropractic and nutritional checkup can help diagnose the underlying causes to this problem. Often, there is a glandular imbalance which needs to be addressed before eating right and removing stress can help the problem.
